How the job runs
- I get on the roof and inside the home before quoting anything. A failing roof and a failing structure are two different problems, and only one of them gets a roof-over.
- Set the bearing points — where the new roof's weight actually lands on the existing home. On the Loganton roof-over that came before a single truss got built.
- Frame the trusses on site, cut to the pitch you and I settle on. Steeper sheds snow better. That homeowner asked for oversized trusses for extra pitch and strength, and that's what went up.
- Set and brace the trusses, then sheathe the new deck in plywood.
- Wrap the whole deck in Tri-Flex synthetic underlayment. That's your water layer while the roof is open and after it's closed in.
- Install the ribbed metal panels, close in the gable ends, and finish the trim, fascia, and edges.

Is a mobile home roof-over better than a full roof replacement?
Depends on what's failing. If the roof panels or membrane are shot but the walls and frame underneath are sound, a roof-over gets you a pitched roof without tearing your home open to the weather. If the sheathing is rotted and the insulation is soaked, you'd be sealing wet material under a new roof. I check both before I quote either one.
Can you convert a flat mobile home roof to a pitched metal roof?
That's most of what a roof-over is. I set new bearing points, frame trusses on site to the pitch you and I settle on, sheathe the deck in plywood, and run ribbed metal over synthetic underlayment. Is a roof-over worth it on an older mobile home?
If the frame, walls, and floor are still solid, a new pitched roof is the thing most likely to keep the rest of the home alive. If the floor is soft in spots and the walls are out of plumb, a good roof on a failing home is money in the wrong place. I'll tell you that at the walkthrough, before any deposit.
Do you do mobile home roof-overs outside Lock Haven?
