A structural "box beam" I built and set myself to carry the roof load across a wide opening. It's a deep, built-up beam — dimensional lumber framing sheathed in APA-rated structural plywood — fabricated on site to an engineered, code-approved design and set in place to carry the span.

How the job was done
- Worked from the engineered, code-approved design — beam depth, plywood layout, and fastening for the span and load.
- Fabricated the built-up box beam on site: dimensional lumber framing sheathed in APA-rated structural plywood.
- Set and fastened the beam into the opening to carry the roof framing across the wide span.
- Had it inspected and signed off as a code-approved structural member.
