A dark engineered hardwood floor installed in a Lock Haven bedroom — old flooring out, the subfloor cleaned, flattened, and dried, and wide planks laid wall to wall over fresh underlayment. Acclimated, gapped, racked, and staggered by the book for a floor that lies flat and wears for years.

How the job was done
- Acclimated the flooring in the room for several days so the planks could adjust to the home's temperature and humidity before installation.
- Cleared the room and prepped the subfloor — cleaned it, checked it for flatness, secured any squeaks, and confirmed it was dry and level.
- Rolled out underlayment across the subfloor for a quiet, cushioned, moisture-resistant base.
- Planned the layout and dry-laid a few rows, racking boards from several cartons to mix grain and color and stagger the end joints for a natural look.
- Laid the planks wall to wall, keeping a consistent expansion gap around the perimeter with spacers and drawing each joint tight with a tapping block and pull bar.
- Undercut the door casings so the planks slid cleanly underneath, and set transition strips at the doorways.
- Pulled the spacers and finished the perimeter with base and shoe molding for a clean, tight edge.
